In-process monitoring of the condition of a rotating tool could be made based on the sequence of images acquired at a low frame rate using phase-shifted stroboscope.

Tool failure in PCB drilling could be predicted with a high accuracy using the tool deflection values measured from the tool images during the process and an ANN prediction model. 

 

For control of the discharge by spark in wire electro discharge grinding (WEDG), the discharge current is analytically modelled and a control method is developed based on high speed sampling of discharge current.
